Our Story

How It Started

Summit Church began in 1992 in the homes of faithful believers near Claude Brewer Road. With a desire to reach those not being reached by traditional churches, the founding members emphasized a contemporary sound and a casual, welcoming environment. In 1993, the church purchased 10 acres of land on Hwy 81 in Loganville and began meeting in a temporary chapel.

On February 6, 1994, Summit Church held its first official service, and shortly after, Pastor Butch Butcher was called as the first pastor. The current church building was completed in 1998. Since those early days, Summit Church has remained committed to sharing the unchanging message of the gospel with Loganville, Walton County, and beyond.

In September 2024, Summit Church entered a new season of ministry by calling Dr. Jesse Welliver as Lead Pastor. We believe the best is yet to come as we continue to lead all people to look to Jesus above all else.

Our Priorities

We are guided by six core priorities that shape our life together:

Gospel Centrality & Clarity

We want everything we say and do to point clearly and consistently to the good news of Jesus.

Biblical Preaching

We regularly preach through books of the Bible to help you understand and apply God's Word in your daily life.

Compelling Community

Church isn’t just a service to attend—it’s a family to belong to. We’re building deep, meaningful relationships that reflect Christ’s love.

Healthy Homes

Discipleship starts at home. We come alongside parents to help them model what it means to follow Jesus.

Deep Discipleship

We want to move beyond surface-level faith and help people grow into mature, equipped followers of Christ.

Training Leaders

We invest in developing leaders who are called to serve, shepherd, and multiply the mission of the church.

Our Leadership

Meet The Team

We are blessed with a team that is passionate about serving the church, equipping the saints, and glorifying Jesus in all they do.
