Sr. Adult Coed – Building 100 – Room 101

This class is taught by Tom Nolen and Bob Bahurinsky.

 Sr. Adult Ladies – Building 100 – Room 102

My name is Jeanneane Gibbs and I’ve been teaching at Summit Church for 19 years.  I started teaching when our church met in the trailer that is across the parking lot from our sanctuary.  I had only two ladies at that time, now we have around 21 in our class ~ widowers and single ladies ~ age 55+.  They are some of the best praying ladies I’ve ever taught.  They care for one another, look out for one another and most of all they love one another.  We have a prayer team that prays daily.  Our ladies enjoy fellowship with one another; we often meet for breakfast or dinner.  I kid them about Promotion Sunday (each August our Children’s Ministry moves up to the next grade).  Our next promotion will be the “Heavenly Bible Class”.  We have just finished our study on Genesis and Exodus and will now begin in the New Testament, the book of Romans.  We encourage you to visit our class and I’m sure you will want to come back again.  We are always looking forward to what God can and will do for Summit.

Ages 60+ – Building 100 – Room 107

Ages 50+ – Building 500

My name is Larry Garner and I am one of the team of Sunday School teachers at The Summit.  I have been at Summit for 14 plus years and have been a Bible teacher for over 30 years.  I am married to my childhood sweetheart for 33 years now.  We have two adult children and two grandchildren.  I am 55 years old and would be considered a local business owner.  The Bible is rich in historical details of seeing the life of the individuals set as an example to us, however, I know that GOD’S word (the Bible) is for us to live by minute by minute.  You would consider my teaching style to be life application where as if you can’t apply it to your life then I don’t teach it.  Our class currently has between 30 and 40 in regular attendance and the age is random as well as marital status.  The average age is about early 40’s to mid 60’s.  We start at 9:00 am on Sunday and finish at 10:00 am and on Wednesday we start at 6:45 pm and end at 7:45 pm.  We would be better off with you in our class (Room 109 on Sundays).  Won’t you please give us a try.

AGES 50+ – Building 100 – Room 106

Hank Rivers’ Sunday School is known as ‘The Climbers” as in Climbing to the “Summit”.  My wife, Angela and I, became leaders of this class in January, 2011.  We currently have 18 members on our class roll.  Although we are considered a “50+ class”, our ages range from late 40’s to mid 70’s.  Our class normally begins with prayer requests and praise, then a short discussion to cover class business.  We then discuss ministry needs inside and outside the class.  Our class currently supports the Pregnancy Resource Center and the Rivers of Mercy – Feed the Hungry Program on a monthly basis.  We are currently using study material from Lifeway ~ Bible Studies for Life, but follow those in specific chronological order.  I conduct the class as a teacher-moderator using an open discussion format.  We are currently studying “Pressure Points” using the book of James.  Our class attempts to stay connected on a monthly basis with a class social involving movies, cookouts, dinners together or sometimes meeting at someone’s home.  As class members, we lift each other up in prayer on a weekly basis.  We stay connected by using an updated Sunday School list which includes specifics such as phone numbers, email, birthdays and anniversaries.  We love our class, but most of all we love each other, but more importantly, we love our Lord and Savior.

 Ladies (all ages) – Building 100 – Room 104
My name is Kyleigh Brown and I lead the “Ladies Sunday School”. I am originally from South Africa but have lived here for 11 years now and became a citizen last year.  I have been married to my husband for 29 years and we have four wonderful sons, one daughter-in-law, and another soon to be daughter-in-law and a granddaughter on the way.  I have been a member of Summit since 2005 and I’ve lead this Ladies Sunday School class since 2009.  We are a mixed group of ladies of varying ages.  Some are single, divorced, or just ladies whose husbands don’t attend church on a regular basis due to work schedules or are working or serving elsewhere within the church.  All ladies are welcome to attend.  As a Sunday School it is our aim to study God’s Word, apply it to our lives, and share it with others.  We welcome any lady who needs the warmth, comfort and support of other understanding and loving women, while growing in the knowledge and wisdom of the Lord.  We also have a heart to reach out to our community in any way we can believing that we have people in our community that are in need and living in spiritual darkness.  We believe that our faith is validated by works of love and compassion for our neighbors.  We are currently collecting food items to support a local charity organization known as Shepherd’s Staff and we are discussing and looking for other ways to serve our community.  We begin our class with prayer requests, praises and prayers, and a time of catching up with each other.  Then, we move into our lesson and discuss how it’s applicable to our lives currently. Each lesson has spoken to, or awakened our spirit to see through the eyes of James.  We are currently studying the book of James by Elizabeth George.  I welcome discussions and questions and input from all the ladies as I believe we learn from this and I believe it helps to cement what we have learned.  We invite you to visit our class and experience the warmth and love that we share.  We have not yet had a social but we are discussing a visit to “The Mudpatch” to spend an afternoon painting and socializing with each other.  Please consider our class…we look forward to meeting you and we welcome you.
